Is there AnkiDroid for iPhone? How to move your cards to iOS

No. AnkiDroid is Android only, and there's no iPhone version. The official Anki app for iPhone is AnkiMobile, a one-time purchase of $24.99 in the US. Both apps sync through AnkiWeb, so you can move from AnkiDroid to an iPhone and keep every card, picture, sound and review.

Who makes which app

AnkiDroid is free and built by volunteer contributors. AnkiMobile is made by the Anki developers, and its sales fund Anki's development. Since February 2026, Anki's business and development are moving to AnkiHub. Anki's creator said at the time that AnkiMobile would stay a one-time $25 US purchase, and it's still $24.99 on the US App Store as of October 2026. Both open the same collection, so cards you make in one show up in the other after a sync.

Moving from AnkiDroid to iPhone

  1. On your Android phone, sync to AnkiWeb. Make a free AnkiWeb account if you don't have one, then tap sync in AnkiDroid. If it asks whether to upload or download, choose upload.
  2. On the iPhone, install AnkiMobile and sign in with the same AnkiWeb account.
  3. Sync, and choose Download. Anki's manual says to pick Download when the cards are on AnkiWeb and the device is empty. Uploading from the empty phone would replace your collection on AnkiWeb with nothing.
  4. Let the media finish. Pictures and audio sync separately and can take a while on a big collection.

Your review history and scheduling come across with the cards, so nothing restarts. If you use FSRS, AnkiDroid supports it from version 2.17 and AnkiMobile from 23.10, so check both are up to date before you sync.

If you don't want to pay for AnkiMobile

  • AnkiWeb in Safari is free. You can review your synced cards in the browser, though it's less comfortable than an app.
  • Amgi, an unofficial open-source port. Amgi is a volunteer iPhone app, started in March 2026, built on Anki's own engine, and it can sync with AnkiWeb, so your AnkiDroid cards and history come across the same way. It isn't on the App Store and isn't made by the Anki or AnkiDroid teams. Its GitHub page offers an unsigned app file that you have to sideload, signing and installing it yourself from a computer. It's early software (version 0.2 in September 2026), so make sure AnkiDroid has synced to AnkiWeb first, which leaves you a copy.
  • Keep the Android phone for Anki. Some people do their reviews on an old phone or tablet.
  • Start again in another app. This only makes sense if you were about to start new material anyway, because no App Store app other than AnkiMobile keeps your AnkiDroid history. Spaced repetition on iPhone compares the choices.

Where Decks fits

Decks is an iPhone app that works like Anki: SM-2 scheduling, the same Again, Hard, Good and Easy buttons, and Anki's default learning steps. It can't import AnkiDroid or Anki decks, so it's for starting something new, such as one of its ready-made language decks, not for carrying an existing collection over. If you want to keep your AnkiDroid cards, AnkiMobile is the way to do it.
